Fashion World Mourns McQueen

The fashion world is still grieving after the shock news that Lee McQueen has been found dead at his London home. The 40-year-old designer behind the world renowned fashion brand, Alexander McQueen, reportedly ended his life following the death of his mother a week ago. The news of his alleged suicide comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week, shrouding the event in sadness. Journalists and celebrities alike from Hilary Alexander to Sarah Jessica Parker have spoken out about the fashion genius. SJP commented on his extraordinary talent labelling him as one of a kind.

McQueen who was born and raised in London headed fashion house Givenchy before starting his own label. At the time of his death, McQueen was busy finishing his new line which was due to be launched at Paris Fashion Week next month. So far there is no news on whether the collection will be released.
The only word on the situation comes direct from the McQueen fashion house itself who stated: “On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

The fashion industry took more than a few knocks last year and many labels have dissolved including famed Christian Lacroix. We hope the same fate doesn't happen to Alexander McQueen and his ingenious design sight will live on.
