Day 2 at Fashion Forward was another busy day of style with even more shows from local designers as well as talks from some of the industry’s experts, but first, team Ahlan! checked out The Garden which features around 30 new and independent designers who are selling their pieces throughout the weekend. We snapped a few of our favourite pieces, but if you really want to check it out for yourselves.

The highlight of the day’s talks came from supermodel and international fashionista Yasmin Le Bon took part in the talk “In Conversation with Yasmin Le Bon” which was also hosted by Sofia Guellaty, Senior Editor of Style.com/Arabia. Yasmin gave tips and advice to young people wanting to get into the industry, as well as reconfirming her support for emerging designers – making Fashion Forward the perfect place for her to be.

The first catwalk show of the day came from Taller Marmo whose oriental influences provided a collection of monochrome and pastel pieces with a sporty feel. Asymmetric pieces were key to the collection as were the sun and moon prints which added some pattern to the block coloured pieces.

After a short rest in the luxurious VIP lounge we were heading to the Endemage presentation. After meeting the designers last week we couldn’t wait to see how their collection finally turned out. Endemage drew inspiration from Zanzibar for the show, which takes a modern twist on traditional dress, making it stylish for everyone. The base of the collection was, as always, white, with a deep blue hue and pink as the secondary colours. The collection has a light summery feel to it that made us want to hit a Zanzibar beach that second! We will definitely be adding the maxi skirts to our wardrobes for next season!

Tahir Sultan injected some colour to the catwalk with unusual neon creations for both men and women. The unusual creations weren’t particularly wearable for every day but we’re pretty certain the will be in high demand from some for Dubai’s fashionistas wanting them for red carpet events over the next few months, (we could even do with one of these for the upcoming Ahlan! Awards).

Day two concluded with a spectacular show from Zareena. The collection took inspiration from the gorgeous Lebanese scenery, and had a very regal feel to it. We almost felt as though we had been taken back hundreds of years with this creation which combined historic designs with modern shapes – love it!

As with every day of Fashion Forward VIP's partied on well into the evening at the spectacular Madinat Forte. Stay tuned for more fashion and fun tomorrow!
