This mum-of two-with a passion for food and cooking has conjured up a culinary website, served fresh with all the trimmings.
Tell us about Cooking with a Manicure.
It’s a fun, sassy localised culinary website catering to the sexy, busy bee woman, or man. This site is fun, easy to follow, refreshing and relatable, offering recipes, interviews, foodie news and a general introduction to cooking. We’ve interviewed chefs from Nobu to Jamie Oliver.
Where did your passion for food start?
In Barcelona! My husband was studying there. So while he was busy I was out exploring the Catalan markets and would always walk away with a basketful of fresh exciting produce. Food grew to be an obsession. My husband would come home to find the kitchen an unholy mess – a bizarre mix of spices, all manner of exotic vegetables and whatever cut of meat or crustacean I had encountered that day.
What’s your favourite dish?
It depends on the mood! I appreciate the taste of fresh, good, honest ingredients. I don’t like masking the flavour of food. Great food doesn’t need to be complicated.
So, do you cook every day?
Absolutely. I spend the majority of my time at home in my kitchen. My two babies have a play area there and love watching (and ‘helping’) me cook. Also with food expert Annabel Karmel as one of my friends, she has taught me the importance of variety and cooking for and with your children.
