The six-bedroom home of this family of seven is simple, minimalistic and elegant. Each room has an individual feel with the living room having a more old-fashioned theme, the dining room being sleek and modern, and the main hall having a distinctive Italian style.
“Everyone’s room describes them,” says 22-year-old Farah – the eldest of three daughters. “My 15-year-old sister’s room is funky and young, my parents’ room is black and white, while my room is wild, using bright, vibrant colours.”
What stands out as particularly different about this house is not only the variety of décor and how it blends so well, but also some unique statement pieces. “The wall in the main hall is unlike anything I have seen in Dubai,” says Farah. “Made up of individual blocks of shiny black wood it’s more a piece of contemporary art rather than just a wall. My uncle is an interior designer so it was completely his idea – so we know it’s unique.”
But more lies beyond the main house in the form of an “outhouse” – a party room for Farah and her two younger sisters, complete with pool table and bar. “It’s our real escape hatch,” says Farah.
