Fanr Restaurant, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi
Fanr is one of Abu Dhabi’s best-kept secrets. Nestled within the galleries of the cultural district, this cosmopolitan eatery provides the perfect pit stop for your day outing.
It’s anything but boring. There’s a streak of Arabian influence in most of the dishes and as for the ones that don’t, it’s clear from the presentation and flavour that the chefs possess a wealth of knowledge about global cuisine.
Start off local. To truly taste the best, pure-play Arabic cuisine is the way to begin, as illustrated by its hot mezze perfectly. On weekends, the restaurant also does barbeque lunch deals, with Arabic-spiced kebabs being the biggest highlight.
Take your pick from the mains. There’s a wide selection to choose from but we recommend the Black Angus sirloin steak, which is something of a house speciality.
Enjoy the sun, while you still can. As befitting a restaurant set within a complex showcasing magnificent art, the setting here is nothing short of fabulous. The interior is well appointed, with cool, grey stone and light wood providing a natural, minimalist tone, though the outside seating area is where you really want to be. With its well-judged furniture and courtyard-style landscaping, it’s like being in a Mediterranean village.
