Kerrie-Anne Phillips, a former Dubai teacher, took to the stages of X Factor in the UK and managed to pass the audition round with flying colours with four yeses from Simon Cowell, Rita Ora, Cheryl Versini-Fernandez and Nick Grimshaw.

The teacher, who worked at Wellington International School, moved back to the UK last month to take on her singing career and it definitely worked out for her.

“The audition was just 30 seconds, but I think those few seconds changed my life. It was so overwhelming and emotional for me on stage. When I saw the positive reaction on the judges’ faces, I knew I was through and that feeling was so surreal” said the 28-year-old.

She sang We Found Love by Rihanna, earning praise from the judging panel.

Cheryl Versini-Fernandez told Phillips “Taking a risk like leaving your job to come and do that today proves to me you have determination” while Rita Ora said, “I think this is the best job that you’ve had”.
