Etihad And Emirates Airlines Have Announced Exciting New Routes
One of the best things about living in the UAE is its central location on the map, and the fantastic amount of travel destinations at our doorstep. And with local airlines continuously adding new destinations to its schedule, it keeps getting better.
Etihad Airways announced a new scheduled service linking Abu Dhabi and Barcelona, effective 21 November 2018. The route will originally be operated five times a week by a two-class Airbus A330-200, before becoming a daily operation from 31 March 2019.
Barcelona will become the second destination in Spain served by Etihad, adding to the airline’s existing daily service to Madrid.
Peter Baumgartner, Chief Executive Officer Etihad Airways, said: "As one of the largest unserved markets from our Abu Dhabi base, Barcelona - a hub of culture, commerce, tourism, education, fashion and science, has witnessed a significant increase in travel demand from the emirate, and from across our wider network.”
Back in Dubai, Emirates has launched a new non-stop service between Newark and Dubai, adding to an existing daily flight which operates through Athens, Greece.
The new flight, which was introduced on June 1, is operated with a Boeing 777-300ER, and departs Dubai at 3am and arrives in Newark at 9am. The return flight, EK224, departs from Newark at 11.50am and arrives 8.20am the next morning.
The Newark service is one of many additional Emirates flights announced by the airline earlier this year, which also includes two new flights a week each to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida.
