Luxe life landing: Etihad Airways is upgrading its economy cabins
As part of a new upgrade, Etihad Airways Airbus A320 and A321 jets will feature wider and comfier seats in August, and we're pretty happy about it. A senior executive at an Etihad event at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai told The National they are trying to appeal to more customers - regardless of the cabin they’re in.
As well as this, there will be wireless entertainment streaming provided through passengers' personal devices. Yep, the in-flight entertainment screens will be removed, and before you kick off, it's to reduce weight and fuel burn, which helps the planet, so shh.
Even better, a new and improved menu will be available, with a focus on larger contemporary bistro-style meals and seasonal ingredients (depending on the destination). Meals will be served in a new, curved base plate made using recycled materials. And due to the fact that Etihad is focusing on reducing weight on the aircraft, new cutlery that is 85 per cent lighter will be introduced. So here for this.
Last month, Etihad was the first airline in the region to operate a flight without any single-use plastic on the aircraft to raise awareness on the effects of plastic pollution during Earth Day. Other airlines seriously need to take note.
