The flight to Washington DC was forced to make an emergency landing in Dublin

Passengers of Etihad Airways flight EY131, operating from Abu Dhabi to Washington DC, suffered a major scare this Monday when smoke emitted from a fellow passengers tablet, forcing a flight diversion to Dublin.

The airline company confirmed that the flight was diverted on 16 September to remove the device before proceeding their journey to the US capital.

The news comes after many UAE-based airline carriers such as Etihad, Emirates and FlyDubai banned passengers from carrying Apple’s MacBook Pro laptop in checked luggage as a part of safety measures.
