Emma Watson To Play Belle In Beauty And The Beast
Disney have confirmed that the first major player in their forthcoming live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast will be former Harry Potter star Emma Watson.
The original animated version from way back in 1991 was the first of its kind to be nominated for a best picture Oscar, and the first Disney film of its kind to transfer to Broadway in 1994, so big things are expected of the film version. And the instant reaction from the Twittersphere: Perfect Choice.
It was Emma who broke the news first, when she announced on her Facebook page; "I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'. My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx"
We're champing at the bit to find out who's going to get the male lead, but don't expect to see this any time soon, though; The film isn't even scheduled to go into production until later this year, and no release date has been announced yet...
