If you’re flying on Emirates and wish to reserve a seat on the flight, you may have to pay an additional fee.
Travellers may have to be pay from Dhs50 to Dhs150 to save a seat. This will only be added to economy class special and saver fares and will depend on the flight distance. This will come in to full effect after 3 October. If you wait until online check-in opens, which is 48 hours before flight departure, you will not have to pay.
“Emirates can confirm the introduction of a minimal charge for those looking to select their economy class seat in advance, for tickets issues on or after October 3, 2016. The charge is only applicable on special and saver fares in economy class and will vary depending on the duration of the flight. Children below the age of two and accompanying passengers on the same booking will be exempted from the fee. At this stage, seat selection is free,” said an Emirates spokesman.
