Earth Food Diet

WHAT’S INVOLVED: Also known to some as the hippie diet as it focuses on the foods that are supplied to us naturally from our Earth. This diet was created by actress Liana Werner-Gray who challenged herself to eat only natural foods provided by the Earth for a year. She kept track of her meal plans via a personal blog, which proved to be a huge success. Essentially this diet is meant to replace the processed foods with natural goods, reducing the chemical burdens on your body. Typical foods from the Earth include fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, spices and meats. This diet is designed to help lose or maintain weight and detox the body - the diet is free of artificial flavours, sugar, soy, preservatives, MSG, GMO, flavourings and hormones.
YOU WILL NEED:
- Access to a supermarket with a good organic section
- Green fingers - if you can grow the crops yourself even better. Perhaps this could be a new hobby for you
VERDICT: The diet is said to boost metabolism, it’s also good for cleansing the body. However, with an increase in pesticide use it’s best to go organic to get the full, clean benefits. Ryan Penny, Clinical Nutritionist and Conditioning Coach for The Wellness Brothers, says, “The Earth Food Diet is another one of the ‘philosophy’ diets, and in truth one that I would say delivers the best possible fuel for the body. The ideal would be to go organic, local and eat foods in their season. If God made it, eat it. If man made it, avoid it. Short, sweet and simply the best, but sadly out of reach for most of us!”
