Dubai's next BIG thing set to break records

Dubai’s latest development is all set to feature not one but three record breaking structures! These include the 711 metre tall Dubai One tower, the Meydan One Mall, a civic plaza with the world’s largest dancing fountain along with a 4km canal and a 100 berth marina, among other amazing features.

All these are part of The Meydan One, a Meydan City Corporation development that is geared to become home to more than 78,300 residents in the coming years. The first phase of the development is scheduled to be completed sometime before 2020, when Dubai’s population is forecast to hit 3.4 million, according to reports.

Meydan Chairman, Saeed Humaid Al Tayer said, "In a city that never stops innovating, this announcement is significant for the future of Dubai and the UAE. We have committed to developing a multi-use destination, which goes beyond expectations and will cater to every kind of person living and working here, as well as those who travel from around the world to visit.”

The Meydan One Mall will further feature a 150 metre x 80 metre retractable roof that is scheduled be open during the winter months and will have more than 300 restaurants, cafes and kiosks, as well as retailers.

The mall will also feature the world’s longest indoor ski slope at 1.2km, a 25,000 sqm indoor multi-purpose sport facility, over 5.3km bicycle and jogging trails and a 9km boardwalk, truly making it a marvellous structure.

At the base of the ski slope will be the Meydan Arena, which can seat up to 8,000 people. It will host sporting events, live concerts and theatrical shows. Some of the outdoor sport options include football pitches, mountain biking, walking and running trails and a skateboard park.
