Frankie’s Italian Bar & Grill is gearing up for a Dubai World Cup celebration of the biggest event on the emirate’s sporting calendar.

True to its horse-racing heritage, the venue, named after international champion jockey Frankie Dettori, will host the One to Watch extravaganza on Wednesday 25 March, giving the lowdown on runners and riders prior to one of the world’s largest horse races.

Held at the world’s largest racecourse, Meydan Grandstand, Dubai World Cup is the world’s most lucrative race day, featuring nine races with a combined prize purse of over Dhs110m.

One to Watch will allow dinners to pick up tips on race-day stats and hear sporting anecdotes while devouring a four-course meal of Frankie’s faves.

Harry Tregoning, the racing presenter, pundit and journalist who’s a regular presenter of Dubai Eye’s Talking Horses, will host the evening with Ben Jacobs, ARN’s editor of Sports Talk. In addition, a panel of local and international influential racing pros, including top jockey Richard Mullen, Ireland-based trainer David Marnane and Rupert Bell, an accomplished UK sports presenter with over 25 years’ broadcasting experience across Sky Sports, the Racing Channel and radio show TalkSports.

The soirée is set to ignite race-day excitement while guests enjoy exquisite Italian cuisine and more. A set menu including tartare di tonno, emulsione di limone, pomodoro e basilica, red-tuna tartare with lemon emulsion, tomato confit and basil and filetto di manzo, patate affumicate, salsa piccante e radicchio saltato, fillet of black Angus, homemade ketchup, smoked potato and sautéed radicchio.

Rounding off the gastronomic journey, dessert offerings include a mouth-watering tiramisu espresso con zabaione al Baileys, the Frankie’s version of Italian classic tiramisu with Baileys zabaione.

Frankie’s was created by Marco Pierre White, one of the youngest chefs to win three Michelin stars, and world-renowned jockey Frankie Dettori. Launched in 2007, it’s won several awards and offers a combination of fine and casual dining in a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
