Dubai World Central Airport will open its passenger terminal in October

Dubai’s World Central Airport will open its passenger terminal on 27 October, with budget airlines Wizz Air and Nasair launching services.

The new international airport began cargo operations back in 2010 and had intended to open its passenger terminal in 2011, but it has been long delayed.

Dubai World Central is designed to eventually cater for 160 million passengers and become the world’s largest airport. It is thought that it will eventually replace Dubai’s current main airport, Dubai International Airport, but not until next decade.

However, Dubai's flagship airline Emirates has not indicated any plans to move to the new airport, as Dubai International Airport is opening a new terminal for the airline next January.
