Dubai Watch Week Launched

A first-of-its-kind event in the Middle East, the Dubai Watch Week is solely dedicated to the watch industry and will be held from October 18 to 22.

Organised by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG), the Geneva-based foundation that recognises the best in watchmaking every year, the inaugural event will celebrate the history, dedication, innovation, achievements and master craftsmen in the world of horology. Presented through exhibitions, workshops and forums in addition to private and public events, the event aims to attract established and emerging watch collectors regionally and internationally.

The event will also be a great opportunity for those looking to embark on a career in watchmaking and will include an internship and mentorship programme.

“The appetite for greater insight into the world of watchmaking continues to grow exponentially in the Middle East, which has become a key export market during the last several decades,” said Abdulhamied Seddiqi, vice-chairman of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. “Dubai Watch Week (DWW) is being established as a leading platform for education, debate and discovery into the world’s most innovative and covetable timepieces.”
