Dubai Unveils Plans for Dhs6 Billion Tourist Hot Spot
Bluewaters Island

The planned Bluewaters Island has got the green light from his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, making way for the biggest tourist hot spot in the world.

The island will be located off the popular Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline and will feature the Dhs1 billion Dubai Eye that was also recently unveiled. It’s hoped that the island with the world’s largest Ferris wheel will attract over three million visitors a year and help turn Dubai into a major tourist destination long-term.

Construction of the island and the 210-metre Dubai Eye are set to begin in 2013. A roadway, rail system and a foot bridge will allow visitors easy access out to the island, with a planned five-star hotel, a souq and restaurants.
