Dubai Presents World's First 3D Printed Building
On Monday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Emir of Dubai inaugurated the world’s first 3D printed building. This unique and rare construction will be Dubai Future Foundation’s temporary office. The full model took only 17 days to print and the office was then set up on site within two days, which is quicker than traditional construction methods.
The UAE’s Vice-President explained that 3D printing’s advantages, in terms of lower costs and faster delivery, will make the UAE one of the most important economic hubs, allowing the effective use of this technology to build future cities in all sectors.
This never-seen-before project comes as part of Dubai 3D Printing Strategy, which is a unique initiative aimed to utilize this technology for the service of humanity and promote the status of the UAE and Dubai as a leading global centre of 3D printing by 2030. The strategy focuses on three main sectors: construction, medical products, and consumer products.
Keep an eye out for it in the gardens of Emirates Towers!
