We’ve all played Monopoly at least once, and landed ourselves in different landmarks, from King’s Cross to the solitary jail. But have you ever thought of moving your token to the Burj Al Arab and investing some of your money with the Commercial Bank of Dubai? We never imagined the day would come, either.
Dubai now has its very own Monopoly board, which was announced at Atlantis the Palm. Residents are awaiting to get their hands on the game, and get a little competitive with their families after working hours.
Some of the hot & historic landmarks in the board include the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Airport, Al Seef, La Mer, Global Village, Al Fahidi, Dubai Metro, Sheikh Zayed Road and many more.
H.E. Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), spoke passionately of Al Fahidi in particular: “Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood is an iconic part of the heritage and culture of Dubai and it is fitting that it will now be part of the Monopoly Dubai board.
“The houses of the neighbourhood include museums, galleries and cultural centres and the area is also home to many of Dubai Culture’s artistic events that take place all year round.
"We consider Al Fahidi to be one of the central locations for modern and historic culture and we are proud to sit alongside other important landmarks in this classic family game that will offer visitors and residents a new way to look at the city of Dubai.”
The company behind publishing the board, Winning Moves, are thrilled and expect all ‘Dubaians’ as well as tourists to grab their monopoly boards.
Monopoly Dubai will be available in toy and book stores as well as online websites across the UAE, from Tuesday, 5 November onwards.
