Drake fires back at his dad's claim he's 'always been there for him'

Drake has hit back at his dad Dennis' claims that he has "always been there" for him. The God's Plan hitmaker has spoken openly in the past about how he was affected by the divorce of his parents, and has frequently rapped about how his father wasn't always as present in his life as he would have hoped.

However, Dennis has objected to his son's depiction of events, suggesting he sensationalised their relationship in a bid to sell more records.
“I have always been with Drake. I talked to him if not every day, every other day and we really got into a deep conversation about that,” Dennis said during Nick Cannon's Close Conversations show on Power 106.

“I said: ‘Drake why are you saying all of this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.’ And he goes: ‘Dad, it sells records.’”
Following his dad's comments, the In My Feelings star took to his Instagram Stories to address the remarks, admitting he's "so hurt" by the claims.

"My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him," he penned in the heartfelt post. "It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with... every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”
