Despite mixed reactions about the new tram system in Dubai Marina, Emaar Properties has revealed their plans to launch a Dubai Trolley tram in the Downtown area.
The hydrogen-powered, zero-emission street tram will be a world first and will move along Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard. During the first phase the tram will cover only 1km, stopping at various iconic landmarks, including hotels Vida Downtown Dubai, Manzil Downtown Dubai and The Address Downtown Dubai. Once fully operational, the Dubai Trolley will cover a whopping 7km of Downtown Dubai! Not bad...
Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director of Emaar Properties, said: "Dubai Trolley is another innovative addition to Downtown Dubai that also redefines the concept of urban mobility. By integrating the unmatched aesthetics of a trolley tram with a state-of-the-art locomotive system, Emaar is presenting a sustainable transport mode for visitors and residents in Downtown Dubai. Apart from being environmentally sustainable and enhancing the convenience of the public, it is designed to be another compelling tourist attraction in Dubai. Just as a visit to the city is not complete without a tour of Downtown Dubai, a trip on Dubai Trolley will become a must-do in the tourist itinerary."
The new double-decker tram will only be operational from 4pm to midnight on weekdays and from 3pm to 11pm on weekends.
