Dos and Don'ts for Festive Cooking

Use crowd control. People tend to congregate where all the action is, which is generally the kitchen. If you still have food cooking, it won’t be long before your organised kitchen turns into complete chaos. Remember, too many cooks spoil the broth.

Leave your pots and pans unattended when you’re cooking. A telephone call or music can be a distraction and before long you’ve got one hot mess to deal with!

Remove clutter. Having multiple electrical appliances, oven mitts, towels and utensils to hand is great but can also be a major fire hazard.

Multitask when you’re in the kitchen. You have enough to do with prepping the feast for the big day. Set some colouring activities for the kids, unplug the phone and use a cooking alarm when cooking multiple dishes so that you can focus on the task at hand.
