Vital supplies could dry up over summer

Blood banks have made an urgent appeal for donors to come forward as they prepare for stocks to plummet.

July and August are typically a tough time for the services as expatriates travel.

With the summer timing of the Holy Month, medics fear stocks could hit an unprecedented low, as Muslims cannot donate while fasting.

Donating blood is fast, easy and could save lives. Anyone aged 17 or up and with a clean bill of health is eligible, so book your appointment now!

INFO: The Dubai Blood Donation Centre opens 7am-7pm daily except Sat; 04 219 3221, www.dha.gov.ae. Abu Dhabi Blood Bank opens 8am-1pm and 8.30pm-1am Sun-Thu, 8.30pm-1am Sat, 02 819 1700, www.skmc.ae
