07 Aug 2013

Festivities in Qatar to last for 35 days, we tell you what's on the cards!

The opening of a giant entertainment city and performances by the world-renowned Monte Carlo Circus are among the celebrations planned as Doha counts down the hours until the start of Eid Al Fitr.

The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has unveiled its schedule for a huge variety of events and activities kicking off on the first day of Eid at venues across the city.

Expected to be very popular is the giant Wanasa Entertainment City at the Doha Exhibition Centre, with more than 15,000 square metres dedicated to fun and entertainment, including theatre shows, appearances by cartoon characters, restaurants, a circus show and more than 100 shopping stands.

Extending the festivities beyond the 10 days of Eid, the events and shows at the entertainment city will run from 8 August to 15 September.

As well as the traditional fireworks, another highlight will be the Monte Carlo circus, to be hosted by the Qatar Sports Club during the first week of Eid.

QTA will host live shows and events in shopping centres, including parades, Japanese drummers, magic shows and the Angry Birds show, while a range of performances and festivities will also take place in popular spots such as Katara Cultural Village, Souq Waqif and The Pearl.
