Dinner Review: J&G Steakhouse
If you prefer spending your Friday nights in a relaxing and classy atmosphere (opposed to the usual post-brunch shenanigans), look no further than J&G Steakhouse’s brand-new jazz concept. Located in the St Regis Dubai in Habtoor, except a luxurious venue decked with rich wood interiors, stunning marble and vintage artwork accents. And if that’s not glam enough, the Friday night jazz performers add a final touch of elegance.
The jazz night allows you to sit back, relax and enjoy a three-course set menu consisting of the restaurant’s most popular dishes. The impressive selection features a tomato sweet onion and blue cheese salad (don’t mistake the baby onions for olives) for starters, a NYC striploin steak and mac and cheese topped with truffle for mains, topped with a strawberry cheesecake for dessert. The three dishes combine to make a perfect trio. The starter is light and flavoursome, the steak is accompanied by a variety of homemade exotic sauces, the mac and cheese with truffle is a winning combo and the cheesecake is light and fluffy. In other words, it’s satisfying without being too rich.
And while the menu itself is a worthy of an award, our trophy goes to the table’s sweet, homemade bread. We generally tend to avoid complimentary bread before our main meals, but these warm buns, combined with melting butter (obviously), are beyond addictive. Carbs? What carbs?
