World-class restaurant Cipriani is perfectly placed in DIFC, but it doesn’t rely on its buzzing location and legacy to pull in the crowds – each flawless Italian dish does that. Honestly, every plate served is fresh and fantastic.
Let us tell you more: we start by nibbling on moreish fried zucchini chips and absorb the décor of the full and fancy multi-level dining room, which features crisp white tablecloths, high gloss wood interior and signature brown leather chairs.
Burrata and olives arrive, alongside crispy calamari, bright red beef carpaccio and the Downtown Salad starring langoustine, avocado, tomatoes, olives and green beans. Next, we feast on calf's liver "alla Veneziana" with fried polenta and rich veal spaghetti. Wow.
Cipriani perfectly balances classy tradition with a modern feel – it’s no wonder it’s loved in locations including London, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong and New York. Just before the dessert arrives (we understandably ask for a break to make sure we do it justice), the knowledgeable and friendly staff lay another clean tablecloth on our table. The attention to detail is second to none.
It would be unimaginable to visit the hotspot without placing a request for a slice of the vanilla meringue. The sponge cake - layered with pastry and whipped cream topped with slightly torched meringue - has been a Cipriani signature menu item since 1931. And we will never forgive you if you leave without ordering Cipriani’s soft-serve homemade pistachio ice-cream. A bold claim, but we’re going to say it’s the best ice-cream in Dubai.
Each Cipriani is consistent with its traditional décor, attentive service and excellent dishes. The price point means it’s definitely a destination for a special occasion or if you’re feeling fancy. That said, we’re seriously impressed and can’t wait to return.
