Fancy a contemporary Mexican feast from the team behind Tom & Serg?

This place is so on trend. Sharing concept? Tick. Fashion-forward pared-back interiors? Tick. Achingly cool Instagram account? (see: @_muchachas_). We're not the least bit srprised as this new cantina is the brainchild of Bull & Roo founders Tom Arnel and Sergio Lopez, who set up the eponymous Tom & Serg, The Sum of Us, Common Grounds and Brunswick Sports Club.

"There ain't no Tex Mex round here," we're told. "No way José." Muchachas boasts an extensive menu dedicated to contemporary Mexican fare to share. Options include the signature Super Cheesy Queso Fundido with spiced devil prawns, pineapple and homemade tortillas (Dhs76) and the very popular grilled beef flank taco (Dhs29).

Signature Dish: Cheesey Queso Fundido, Dhs76
This creation looks like it's inspired by kitsch Seventies dinner parties and children's birthday buffets. Exotic and unashamdly flamboyant, it features a half pineapple filled with devilled prawns and pineapple chunks in a rich and spicy sauce. Homemade tortillas come in a little woolly bag that keeps them warm. Cute and quirky, this dish sums up Muchachas!

The weekday lunch special - rice and salad with your choice of two tacos or a cut of meat - costs just Dhs65 between midday and 3.30pm, while the Dhs255 Fiesta Menu sees a steady stream of staff favourites delivered to your table (ideal for indecisive diners). When it comes to tipples Mexico's favourite spirit forms the basics of the house mixes, which extend far beyond your basic margarita.
