As a woman, you will always fall into one of two categories: a lover of shoes or a lover of bags. For Diana Onu, the Romanian-born CEO and Founder of Maison Cachet, her years of experience working in high fashion have moulded her into the latter.
After living in Canada, a move to Dubai beckoned in 2010 for her first foray into the luxury sector, where she applied her decade-long fashion career to the pursuit of a project of passion, which came to fruition this year with the launch of her handbag line, Maison Cachet. Gaining notoriety for her handcrafted creations, adorned with 14-carat gold-dipped accessories, the first phase of Diana’s dream took just seven months from the creative process to the launch of her online store in October.
Diana reveals that it hasn’t been easy, though, assuming the work of 10 people as she divides her time between answering emails, meetings, interviews, planning her next season, researching new trends, organising photo shoots, and remaining a popular topic on social media. But she also says she wouldn’t change a thing. “It’s hard to differentiate now between my work life and personal life. When you love what you do, every moment of every day is rewarding, so it never feels like work, even if you finish at midnight.”
