The government entity Dewa, has announced that only renewable energy will be utilized during the expo 2020 event which will be held in Dubai. Allocation of AED4.26 billion has been made in order to support water and electricity during the event, Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA told Wam.
“The total value of electricity projects implemented by Dewa to support Expo reached $114m (AED420m), which included the construction of three major substations with a total capacity of 132/11KV. The substations are named Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability after the three subthemes of Expo 2020.”
He also added that a number of mega projects have been initiated by the government to produce and distribute renewable energy, including 422MW from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
During the event, charging stations for electric cars will also be included. Al Tayers says Dewa aims to encourage the use of eco-friendly cars.
