Dessert Review: Chocolate Crackle Bombe at The Ivy, Jumeirah Emirates Towers
Our fave dessert of the year!

At the close of my culinary journey for 2012, I was asked to name a dish that really blew me away (excuse the pun). And it has to be The Ivy’s chocolate crackle bombe. Without being dramatic... this was the most incredibly spectacular dessert of my life. Ever! It’s a hollow, dark chocolate sphere filled with vanilla ice cream and orange segments and served with salted toffee and popping candy. This is a multisensory experience: visually it looks like a bomb with a thread of gold leaf serving as the fuse. The waiter ignites this fuse with hot chocolate sauce and the chocolate casing implodes sending the ice cream oozing out. Then, as the sauce hits the popping candy, it starts to crackle. And boom! All my dessert dreams just came true. They do have other things on the menu which you can use to properly punctuate the dessert order...
