David Morales to Headline Q43's First Birthday Party
Legendary DJ David Morales will headline Q43's first birthday party

One of the world’s biggest names in house music is UAE-bound – and he’s helping one of our fave hangouts celebrate its first birthday!

Q43 will welcome David Morales when it turns one this Thursday.

A native New Yorker, Morales grew up during dance music’s most influential era and frequented its most legendary clubs. While the music in such renowned venues as the Loft and the Paradise Garage was inspiring and new, there was also a large social element to what made these clubs unique.

After honing his skills in Manhattan’s most influential nightspots, he embarked on a remixing career in the mid-Eighties, right when the art started taking off, teaming up with Chicago house music legend Frankie Knuckles and NYC nightlife impresario Judy Weinstein, and for the creation of Def Mix Productions to help manage remix requests and handle artist business affairs.

To date, Morales has remixed and produced more than 500 releases for artists including Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Michael and Janet Jackson, Eric Clapton, Pet Shop Boys, U2, Whitney Houston and Jamiroquai. Morales received the 1998 Grammy Award for Remixer of the Year after being nominated for the same award in 1997.

Since working on Mariah Carey’s megahit Dreamlover in 1993, he’s gone on to become one of the pop diva’s go-to remixers. To date, Morales has remixed her songs Always Be My Baby, HoneyMy All, I Still Believe, It’s like That and Say Somethin’, as well as Fantasy, on Carey’s Diamond-certified album Daydream, for which he received a Grammy Award nomination for Producer of the Year in 1996.

Considered by many to be one of the first true superstar DJs, Morales was among the first DJs to actively tour the world, becoming a regular face at Pacha Ibiza and Montreal’s Stereo, while he’s also known as one of the most versatile DJs in the industry thanks to his remix and production work.

Additional acts taking to the decks this Thursday include Dubai’s very own Smokingroove and Q43 resident DJ Guess Hu. This is one birthday party you won’t want to miss.
