Tributes poured in when the news of Bowie's demise was announced

David Bowie’s teenage daughter will receive a $25 million (Dhs 91 million) windfall on her 25th birthday. The rock icon lost his battle with cancer in January, aged 69, and it has now been revealed the Fame hit-maker had put aside $25 million for each of his two children.

Film-maker Duncan Jones, Bowie's 44-year-old son with his first wife, actress Angela Barnett, will inherit his share in the coming weeks, while 15-year-old Alexandria, the singer's daughter with wife Iman, will have to wait another 10 years to receive her funds. Veteran estate and probate lawyer Peter Valente was appointed Alexandria's legal guardian at the request of her mother during a hearing in Manhattan Surrogate Court in New York on Tuesday.

Bowie left the remainder of his $100 million (Dhs 367 million) fortune to former supermodel Iman, his wife of 24 years, and also left her their apartment in Manhattan's trendy Soho district. The rock star also didn't forget about his loyal household staff members and assistants, setting aside a few million dollars to make sure they were taken care of.

Bowie's death on 10 January sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, and he has been honoured with tribute performances at recent awards shows, including the Oscars and Grammys last month, whre Lady Gaga performed a medley of his biggest hits. She dressed up as his colourful Aladdin Sane alter-ego, complete with her hair dyed bright orange, and also used various special effects and technical trickery to really bring her set to life.

Bowie's son Duncan didn't appear to be a fan of her translation of the songs however, and took to Twitter, writing, "'Overexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.' Damn it! What IS that word!?” referring to the definition of the word 'Gaga'.

Pop star Lorde also honoured Bowie at the BRIT Awards in London days later with a rendition of Life on Mars? and that performance won the blessing of the Moon director, who branded it "Just... beautiful".
