It’s hard to believe that DJ Dany Neville is only 29 years old. Having first blown away live audiences at the tender age of 17, he’s since established himself as a veteran on the region’s clubbing scene, where he’s respected for his knowledge of a diverse range of musical genres. It wasn’t long before Radio 1 snapped him up to host its early hours show from 2am to 6am, but his rising popularity later saw him DJ in every time slot, winning recognition as the ‘ambassador of hip-hop’ for the Middle East from huge artists including Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and 50 Cent. His achievements are too numerous to list but, in a nutshell, he’s been a regional pioneer by promoting artists from all over the globe. He’s also opened doors for other local DJs – he’s produced music for regional artists such as Iraqi-Canadian MC Narcicyst and Lebanese-born musician Karl Wolf, working with the latter on a record that went platinum.
His knack for putting a fresh spin on urban melodies has also caught the attention of the international A-list, resonating with stars including Akon and Snoop Dogg – in 2013 Snoop Dogg’s record producer, Fredwreck, enlisted Dany to work on the 20th-anniversary release of House of Pain’s Jump Around remix compilation in 2013, which was released to mainstream audiences across the globe.
