Dana, co-owner of hip cupcake emporium Hey Sugar Bakeshop, lived in Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia before settling in Al Safa six years ago with husband Raed Saqfelhait and their two daughters Karma and Tayma.
Unlike many homes in the region, Dana’s house is a modern space, accessorised with the occasional dash of colour (she loves red). Couches from Italian designer Maxalto were the first pieces the couple purchased and they still act as a central focus.
When it comes to Dana’s favourite art, a new piece by Shawki Youssef and a big, red and yellow painting picked up in Bali during her honeymoon vie for top spot with a Zaha Hadid flower sculpture.
Dana’s dream home would be a Tuscan cottage – the ideal antidote to hectic Dubai life. Meanwhile, Dana and Raed, well-known for their soirees, like to entertain in their salon and dining room where lucky guests can feast on Hey Sugar’s delicious treats.
