• After 10 years of business, I decided to sell Kitsch Cupcakes & Kitsch Counter – our café and bakery business – to a Belgian food and beverage group, in order to concentrate on two exciting new ventures.
• Following my appearance on Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube, I’ve been working on my own YouTube channel for Dalia’s Kitchen, which will feature accessible recipes for modern Middle Eastern food. I’ve also started work on my second cookbook.
• I love what I do and I’m constantly looking for new and exciting challenges. As my mother says, I’m always hungry for more, which is not easy as I felt I’d spread myself too thin over various projects, while being a mummy to my two young kids. I realised that and slowed down a few gears and everything fell back into place when I stopped rushing to the destination, and just enjoyed the ride – it’s all about that journey.
• I took my four-year-old son to a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon in early January. I know he may seem young, but he insisted on coming after seeing kids his age begging on the streets of Beirut. The camp was far worse than what we see on the news. A personal goal this year is for my family and me to dedicate more time to the Syrian refugee catastrophe.
