Cyber begging is the new UAE Ramadan scam

Thinking of donating this Holy Month? Be careful!

Abu Dhabi police has warned the public to be extra careful this month, as people have been duping residents into donating their hard-earned money to fake charity organisations, reports Gulf News.

The police said that they have been made aware of several cases of online fraud where individuals solicited funds for humanitarian purposes. However, upon investigation, these humanitarian causes were nothing more than a sham to fill the pockets of said soliciters.

UAE authorities have encouraged the public to report such beggars and to provide evidence of the illegal behavior so that they may be punished accordingly.
