COVE BEACH, JUMEIRAH BEACH HOTEL, DUBAI
A catwalk bisects this restaurant, lending it a fashion-forward feel. With ultra violet under-lighting, it cuts a dramatic line through the centre of the space. We can’t wait to see a runway show on it.
The restaurant is a component of a rather glamorous beach club. There’s also a bar and, obviously, a beach, making this a day-to-night destination – but the three areas hold their own identities. We doubt you’ll ever see patrons in sarongs eating in these elegant surrounds in the evening.
The menu runs to seven pages! Following starters, there’s pasta and risotto, ‘Le Mer’ dishes from the sea, ‘La Terre’ dishes from the land, ‘On the Side’ orders (including four potato preparations) and finally desserts.
Who’d have thought that lobster and hazelnut would make such a sweet union? The team at The Cove did – hence this enlightening (and, at Dhs145, purse-lightening) appetiser. The crustacean is served warm with avocado and radish, and topped with roasted hazelnuts. The added crunch really works.
The desserts have impressed even the most pernickety of the UAE’s culinary critics. Food blogger ‘Foodiva’ described both the apple tarte tatin and tiramisu as “exceptional”. She was right.
