Coronavirus UAE update: Monday, April 6

294 more cases confirmed

The case count for COVID-19 on April 6 has jumped up to 1,799 - an increase of 294 cases on Sunday. 

Another 19 cases have recovered, taking the total of recovered cases up to 144.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said the cases were mainly from people coming into contact with existing patients. The MoHaP released a statement:''A number of cases resulted from international travel. The newly diagnosed patients of various nationalities are in a stable condition and receiving the necessary medical care."

On April 4 it was announced that all movement in the UAE is restricted, with anyone looking to leave them home for essential visits to supermarket, pharmacy or doctor to require a permit. 

Essential workers are exempt from these rules. 

Everyone is now required to wear face masks and gloves when leaving the house. 

The metro and tram services are suspended for two weeks, however bus services are free, and taxi services are 50% off during this time.
