CORONAVIRUS: Emirates and Etihad suspend some services as fifth case hits UAE
As the coronavirus continues to create panic worldwide, a fifth case has been documented within the UAE. The individual was travelling from the Chinese city of Wuhan according to national news agency WAM.
The Ministry of Health has assured residents that there's no need to panic, but a low demand for flights to China has seen Emirates Airline cut down its daily routes, and Etihad Airways suspended its flights between Beijing and Nagoya.
The UAE authorities have stated they are complying with World Health Organisation (WHO) directives on the matter. The WHO has now declared the spread of the virus as a global health emergency.
On Sunday, a man in the Philppines died from coronavirus, marking the first fatality outside of China.
More than 14,000 cases have been reported, with 304 deaths due to the virus, which has pneumonia-like symptoms.
