Planned Dhs1.1 billion bridge will replace Dubai Creek's floating bridge

New way to get around Dubai next year! Construction work on the Al Ittihad Bridge will begin in the fourth quarter of 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in three years.

The 12-lane bridge will be built by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at a cost of Dhs1.1 billion and will replace the current floating bridge in Dubai Creek. It will be linked directly with the newly-built Rashid Hospital Tunnels and with a capacity to handle 24,000 vehicles per hour, it will provide a smooth flow of traffic on Ittihad Road.

In a bid to further improve the traffic congestion between Bur Dubai and Deira, the current Floating Bridge will be moved near the Sheraton Hotel on Dubai Creek.
