Among the flower headbands, oversized sunglasses, and copious amounts of fake tan, Coachella Festival also featured some musical performances from a number of artists. While some stars surprised the crowds by making guest appearances, others made headlines for not turning up at all.
Kesha’s True Colours
Kesha joined Zedd onstage in her first performance since her court case with music producer Dr Luke. The 29-year-old singer was rumoured to be performing later that day, and she hit the stage to sing an emotionally charged version of Zedd’s track True Colours. She teased her fans with a photo on Instagram of her in what looked like a private jet, with the caption: “Four hours and counting. Somewhere over America. Eek!” Another shock appearance was that of Rihanna and Leonardo DiCaprio. The pair have been rumoured to be dating on and off for a while now, but seeing them together at Coachella was still surprising, especially since Drake was thought to be seeing RiRi.
Kanye’s Crowd Pleaser
Kanye West drove the Coachella fans wild as he made two surprise appearances during the opening night of the Californian music festival. The rapper joined A$AP Rocky on stage, performing Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1 from Kanye’s The Life of Pablo album to a delighted crowd. However, Yeezy was hit by technical problems, and his mic stopped working a mere 10 words into the track. Kanye kept rapping, unaware of the issue, while the crowd rushed close to the stage to get a glimpse. Kanye wanted to perform another track but A$AP had already overrun his allotted time slot. Later on Friday night, the Gold Digger hitmaker took to the stage again to make his second surprise appearance, this time during the hugely popular set from Skrillex and Diplo’s cool supergroup, Jack U.
