Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell's International Flirt-a-thon
Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell are having a prank-fest and it spells Flirting with a capital F! While celebrating her 29th birthday in Las Vegas last week, Chezza was shocked by a special message emblazoned in the sky. “Cheryl, congratulations. You’re 30 next year! Ha ha ha,” the message, written by a skywriter hired by Simon, read. Apparently it was big enough for anyone in a 15 mile radius to read! The prank was payback for her mile-high tease last year, when she hired a plane to fly over his LA mansion 52 times with a banner that read: “Simon Cowell is 52 today! Ha ha ha! Love Cheryl xoxo.”“Someone told us he didn’t want anyone to know it was his birthday. Perfect opportunity for me to hire a plane,” Chezza reasoned. The year before she booked three singing dwarves, wearing T-shirts with the words ‘Happy Birthday, Love Cheryl’ on them, to greet the X Factor mogul at his home. Simon clearly loves the attention, previously admitting that if he could snog anyone in the world, it’d be Cheryl! “Who wouldn’t?!” he gushed.
Too Big For Her Louboutins?
Meanwhile, Chezza obviously loves any prank involving Simon, but she’s not quite so ready to have a laugh when other parties are involved. The singer turned diva recently when she failed to take a joke and stormed out of an interview with the BBC at the recent UK Summertime Ball.
“Why are we here?” the interviewer asked a stony-faced Chezza, who was there promoting her new single. Risking her wrath, the interviewer repeated the question twice. “At that point, it seemed like a dig at her for not being worthy of being on the same Summertime Ball bill as The Wanted and Jessie J,” a source told a UK tabloid. But then the interviewer made it clear his question was philosophical – asking, “Why are we here on Earth?” – and Chez apparently stormed off.
Turns out the interviewers were filming for a new BBC3 comedy show called The Revolution Will Be Televised, and Chez had been pranked! Cheryl might not have been in on the joke but she had to save face of course. So she denied having done a runner. “Fyi.. I have never walked out of an interview in my career. I had to be reminded of what your even referring to.. Stop telling lies lol,” Cheryl posted on her Twitter page to counter the story. We bet she’s not looking forward to that episode!
Trying To Break America
After failing in her first attempt to win over America when she was fired in spectacular fashion from X Factor USA last year, Cheryl is giving it another shot, despite the risk of repeat public humiliation. The Geordie singer is about to film a guest spot on the Simon-approved hit show Glee, which is a proven platform for celebs wanting to boost their credibility.
Simon’s a confirmed Gleek, making no attempt to hide his obsession with the show. “Glee changed the rules... it just works,” he revealed.
Could this be Chezza’s way of keeping in Simon’s sights? It can’t be an easy move for her after being slammed for her lacklustre vocals during the Queen’s Jubilee celebration – the Twitterati comparing her singing attempts to a “dying cat”. And Simon has admitted her ill-fated signing to the X Factor USA was a “big mess”– apparently due to her “thick” Geordie accent. Come what may, she’d better get a sense of humour before her Glee debut as Jane Lynch has warned that her character, notorious bully Sue Sylvester, won’t tolerate any funny business. “If Cheryl starts acting like a diva, she’ll see that Sue is meaner than Simon Cowell,” clipped Sue. Good luck, Chez!
