Hotels Are Feeding Stray Animals With Leftover Brunch Food And It's Pretty Ingenious
After seeing all the food wastage after lavish Friday brunches, an Emirati chef had the idea to feed the leftover meals to stray cats and dogs. Jamal Al Breiki, the owner of food delivery service along with Fairmont Hotel Abu Dhabi and Sprinkbok’s Butchery ran a trial on Friday turned out to be a massive success.
The trial run was conducted at Fairmont’s Bab Al Bahr where all the leftover brunch food was sifted through to ensure that only food safe for the animals was collected and minced at Sprinkbok Kitchen. From there the minced leftovers were delivered to Cloud 9 Pet Hotel and Care where the stray doggos and kitties lapped it up.
After the massive success of the trial run, they have gained the interest of two more Abu Dhabi hotels. So now if you brunch at Fairmont, Holiday Inn or Crowne Plaza you can rest easy knowing that you’re helping feed stray animals.
Jamal is now working with Animal Action UAE to expand the scheme and make sure they feed as many hungry strays as possible.
What a clever idea!
