Adidas Originals is relaunching its iconic Gazelle sneakers with the collaboration of digital artist Doug Abraham (better known as @bessnyc4) and British supermodel Kate Moss. Worn by everyone from the fash-pack and the reggae crowd to the brit poppers and the grunges, the Gazelle was the shoe to wear in the Nineties, and now it’s coming back!
For this reboot campaign, Doug re-imagined and re-mixed the visual and the story of the iconic sneakers by using pop culture imageries. He gave the campaign a more modern look but still managed to keep it Nineties-style authentic. No wonder he decided to stick to Kate Moss as she created one of the Gazelle’s most memorable moments – she’s not an icon for nothing!
Global Designs’ Vice President Nic Galway said that Kate Moss “has always had a connection to the Adidas Originals brand and her affection for Gazelle during the nineties is a testament to the ways the silhouette has been adopted into style and pop culture.” The fashion icon also explained the sneakers have “a timeless look that just doesn’t date.”
“I was and always have been an adidas girl” she explained. Us too Kate! We can’t wait to get our hands on these…
