The Rooms
As well as gorgeous pool villas, it has the UAE’s only overwater villas – you can’t swim from the terraces, but there are windows in the floors so you can watch the underwater action, and en suites with sunken bathtubs with sea views. Stay three nights and get 10 per cent off, plus complimentary brekkie until 25 August.

The Pools & Beach
There’s beach access, but the main pool is the centre of the action with the swim-up Mai Bar attracting party people. If a quiet breaststroke is more your style, there’s a meandering second pool that snakes between the villas, where you can notch-up some serious lengths.

For Sundowners
The Lotus Lounge
By day there’s coffee and cake, but from 5pm to 7pm Lotus Lounge hosts Sundowner Sessions when you can buy one selected house drink or cocktail and get another free. Bargain!
INFO: Open 10am-12midnight

Crescendo
This classy international buffet-style restaurant with its big outdoor terrace, boasting an infinity pool and sea views, is about to launch a new Friday Fork & Cork Brunch from 22 August. We’re expecting big things! INFO: Open 7am-11pm daily, brunch 1pm-4pm Fri (Dhs300 including soft drinks, Dhs420 with house drinks, Dhs530 with Taittinger)

For Barbecue
Bushman’s Restaurant & Bar
Start at the bar with happy hour from 5pm to 7pm and then head to this Aussie restaurant for sizzling charcoal-grilled seafood and meats (including kangaroo!). This haunt even has its own salt sommelier, and order the meringue for some culinary theatre with a blow torch! INFO: Open 6.30pm-11.30pm daily

The Beach House
Fresh healthy food and a laid-back vibe – what’s not to like? We hear Sand Ladies’ Night at The Beach House will relaunch this September, too – get all the details once they’re released via AhlanLive.com.
INFO: Open 12noon-1am daily (food served until 11.30pm)

Om Nom Nom…
Mediterranean sea bass with citrus fennel, peas and baby asparagus is our favourite dish at the Beach House.

Mekong
Any restaurant with rickshaws for seats has obvious novelty appeal, but the food here is also among the best in Dubai. We swooned over the clear tomato soup from the Asian kettle, the oven-baked black cod and the pandan crème brûlée. Love you long time, Mekong! INFO: Open 6.30pm-11.30pm daily
