Fear of: Indoor plants, Swimming Pools and Gerbils
Many people like to add a bit of green to their living rooms with a pot plant, and don’t think twice before watering it. But not Mermaids actress Christina who feels disgusted by the merest glance at a plant indoors. She said: “They are dirty, if I have to touch one, after already being repulsed by the fact that there is a plant indoors, then it just freaks me out.”
Fear of: Confined Spaces
Probably the most common phobia, it certainly made one acting job pretty easy for Uma. Talking about the scene in Kill Bill: Vol. 2 where she is buried alive in a coffin, she said, “There was no acting required. Real screams available. It was horrific. Nobody wants to live that experience.”
FYI: Other celebs with this fear include Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Matthew McConaughey.
Billy Bob Thornton
Fear of: Silver, Antique Furniture, Bold Colours
A plethora of phobias for the odd-ball actor and musician. He said, “It’s just that I won’t use real silver. You know, like the big, old, heavy-a*s forks and knives, I can’t do that. It’s the same thing as the antique furniture. I just don’t like old stuff. I’m creeped out by it, and I have no explanation why.” The phobias run so deep that he can’t help them being part of the movies he acts in. His character in the 2001 flick Bandits fears antiques, and his character in Monster’s Ball always uses a plastic spoon for eating.
Fear of: Butterflies
Most people are delighted to see a butterfly, but not Oscar-winner Nicole, who said, ‘It’s so bizarre, I’m not scared of snakes or spiders, but I’m scared of butterflies. There is something eerie about them. Something weird!’ Luckily butterflies don’t generally attack people, so she probably can just keep her Eyes Wide Shut until they go away.
Fear of: Clowns
Johnny said, “Something about the painted face, the fake smile. There always seemed to be a darkness lurking just under the surface, a potential for real evil.” To be fair, there is something a little creepy about fully grown men wearing ill-fitting clothes, extra-large shoes and painting their faces.
FYI: Other celebs with this fear include Daniel Radcliffe, Ulrika Jonsson and P Diddy.
Fear of: Cars, Planes, Lifts, Crowds, Trees, Heights, Spiders and Food.
And the list above is just a selection. She is also scared of snakes, rats, people that snore and germs. Why the former All Saints singer ever agreed to go on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here is a mystery, and it’s really no surprise she didn’t win. It must be a real struggle for poor Nat to do, well, almost anything.
Fear of: Flying
If you think about it, getting into a large metal box that defies gravity is pretty scary. So scary for the Sister Act star, she didn’t fly for 15 years.
And when she finally did pluck up the courage in 2008, she flew with a doctor on standby to administer a sedative in case she panicked.
FYI: Other celebs with this fear include Jennifer Aniston and Cher.
