Career: Oprah started working in radio when she was still at high school and was co-anchoring the local evening news by the age of 19. In 1983 she moved into television, and her show, AM Chicago, fast became the highest-rated talk show in Chicago. The Oprah Winfrey Show debuted in September 1986 and she has become famous for her celebrity interviews and willingness to tackle broader topics including health, spirituality, social issues and books. In 1985 she co-starred in the film The Color Purple and in 1998 she produced and starred in the film Beloved. She has her own production company, Harpo Films, and publishes two magazines, O, the Oprah Magazine and O At Home.
Relationships: Oprah has been in a relationship with businessman Steadman Graham since 1986, but they have never married. She gave birth to a baby boy when she was 14, but he died soon after.
