Career: Madonna shot to fame in 1984 with the release of her second album, Like a Virgin. The following year she appeared in the film Desperately Seeking Susan, which included her hit single Get Into the Groove. Her third album, True Blue, topped the charts in more than 28 countries. Roles in the films Who’s that Girl?, Dick Tracy, A League of Their Own, Body of Evidence and Evita followed and her provocative 1990 Blonde Ambition Tour caused a sensation. Her 1998 album Ray of Light reinvigorated her career and was followed by Music, American Life, Confessions on a Dance Floor and Hard Candy. In 2010 she launched a clothing line, Material Girl, with her daughter Lourdes and announced plans to direct the film W.E.
Relationships: Madonna has been linked to men including producer John “Jellybean” Benitez, Warren Beatty and Vanilla Ice. She married actor Sean Penn on 16th August 1985 but they divorced in January 1989. She started dating fitness trainer Carlos Leon in 1995 and their daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon, was born on 14th October 1996. The couple split in 2007. She met her second husband, Guy Ritchie, in 1999 and they married on 22nd December 2000. Their son, Rocco Ritchie, was born on 11th August 2000 and in October 2006 they adopted David Banda Mwale Ciccone-Ritchie from Malawi. The couple divorced in December 2008. She has since been linked to Brazilian model Jesus Luz and French dancer Brahim Zaibat.
