Celeb Interview: Scott Disick in Dubai
He’s kept viewers entertained for 12 seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and numerous spin off shows with his sarcastic comments, funny sense of humour and unpredictable behaviour, and after Ahlan!’s Deputy Editor Catriona Rigney sat down with Scott Disick for a chat during his trip to Dubai last week, we discovered that none of his TV persona is for show.
The father-of-three was in town as guest of honour at the official opening of popular American restaurant and sweet shop, Sugar Factory, in Dubai’s Festival City Mall. Joining him on the four-day trip to the UAE was Kim Kardashian, who held a make-up masterclass with her long-time glam partner, Mario Dedivanovic, at MusicHall in Jumeirah Zabeel Saray.
Surrounded by rolling cameras for season 13 of KUWTK, Scott was in a mischievous mood during our interview, giving unpredictable answers and dropping statements that are too cheeky to print, confirming to us that the 33-year-old is just as controversial as you see on TV. Prior to our chat in his duplex suite at Atlantis Hotel on The Palm Jumeirah, we were told questions surrounding the Kardashian/Jenner clan, his relationship with on-off partner of 10 years, Kourtney Kardashian (who’s rumoured to be pregnant with his fourth child), as well as Kim and her Paris robbery were strictly off limits.
Despite this, we made some interesting discoveries: Khloé is much stronger than him, he might bring out his own fashion line, and – not so shockingly – he’s a devoted dad to Mason, seven, Penelope, four, and two-year-old Reign.
This is your first time in Dubai, what are your thoughts so far?
It seems very fancy! I haven’t been able to see everything, but it’s pretty unbelievable. I’m going to try and get out the desert and go dune buggying, which I’m pretty excited about.
What’s it like having your life on camera all the time?
I know what I signed up for and there are positives and negatives, but we’re all very blessed.
Will you ever retire from reality TV?
I’m not even sure you can retire from reality television, because it’s just reality. The cameras just keep rolling. So no, I don’t think so.
Would you ever want to have your own show?
No, that’s not really a goal of mine. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. The truth is, I think I do this show mainly because it enables me to spend a ton of time with the people I’m closest to, and that goes with both the family and production, so I don’t feel the need to go above and beyond.
If you hadn’t met Kourtney and KUWTK had never happened, what would you do for a career?
I think I would still do the same business that I do, which involves real estate, luxury and vehicles and things that I’m passionate about. But, I’ve been doing this for so long that I can’t really see life any differently.
Who’s more stylish – you or Kanye?
Kanye, for sure. He’s a style icon.
Will we ever see a Scott Disick fashion line?
That’s tough to say. I’m interested in clothing and I do know a lot of people in the business. It’s definitely something I would like to explore, it’s just I’d like to do it the right way and I don’t want to jump into anything that doesn’t seem to be the right fit.
Will you ever return to your very dapper-dressed days?
I’d like to bring the cane back to be honest. [Scott used to regularly wear a suit and carry a cane!]
Besides Kourtney, who’s your favourite Kardashian to hang out with?
Khloé, for sure.
Has she ever got you into the gym for a workout?
No, I would go watch her maybe, but I’m not a huge gym guy.
Who do you think is stronger - you or Khloé?
Khloé definitely, she’s in great shape. I mean, just look at her new show, Revenge Body.
We often see you wind up Kris Jenner on the show. What’s been the best thing you’ve done to annoy her?
I think maybe years ago, I would like to annoy her and prank her, but truthfully I love her very much and she’s been one of the most supportive people that I have in my life, so I don’t really like to poke her that much. She’s quite an amazing woman that she has so many people that come to her for different things.
You have three children. What’s the best thing about being a dad?
Honestly, every day is just amazing, to be able to wake up and know that you have children who depend on you and love you, and being able to see them grow, is mind-blowing. I never even imagined that I would grow to love someone as much as I do, and it reminds me of when I was young and close to my own father.
Have you given Rob Kardashian any tips about fatherhood? [Rob recently welcomed daughter Dream with his fiancée Blac Chyna]
Yes and no. Rob is one of the sweetest guys I know and has the genuine best heart, so I don’t think any tips are really going to help him. I think he knows exactly what to do. I believe he’s going to be the greatest loving father possible.
Would you like to have more children?
I’m content with my three children, they’re all beautiful, but who knows?
If someone were to play you in a movie of your life, who would it be?
I’d probably play myself – that sounds fair!
Finally, where do you see yourself in five years time?
I don’t know, but if my kids are healthy and happy, then I’ll be content.
