Carey Mulligan 'Terrified' About Gatsby Role
Carey Mulligan will play Daisy in Baz Luhrmann's remake of The Great Gatsby

Having been cast months ago for the
coveted role of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Lurhmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby,
Carey Mulligan says that she has been a nervous wreck waiting for the shooting
to start.

Carey was the Aussie director’s first
official casting for his adaptation of the F Scott Fitzgerald novel, with Leonardo
DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher and Joel Edgerton joining the cast over
the following months.

But Mulligan admits to feeling “terrified”
by the wait to begin work and fretting over how she will portray the brittle
socialite Daisy. “(I’m) terrified, of course I am,” she told Empire magazine. “It’s
just that (Luhrmann) cast me back then... (It was) just more time for me to
freak out at home on my own.”

But the Brit actress hasn’t been idle –
she’s been devouring Fitzgerald’s other books in the meantime.  “It's been
so interesting; I’ve had so much time and I’ve been able to read so much
Fitzgerald. I’ve had a lot of time to get into it so I can’t wait to start.”
